Janne joined Softera in 2021 through a recruitment programme. A business degree in hand and years in finance roles — but an interest in programming had been bubbling under the surface for a long time.
From an interest to a profession
Despite years of a finance background, computers and programming had followed Janne all along. The decision to change fields matured over time, until the right moment came.
"I'd always been interested in computers and tinkered with them a lot. Through that, I'd long been thinking about a career in programming."
To Softera via Savonia Code Academy
After a higher-education diploma from Savonia Code Academy, a recruitment placement came up at Softera. The six-month training period led to a permanent software-developer position, and today Janne works on Softera T360°.
The recruitment programme was Janne's route to making the career change he'd long considered — and at the same time a permanent job at a company where the work is varied and self-directed.
Independent work at your own pace
At Softera the nature of the work is independent and requires focus. The structure of the days, problem-solving and learning new things reward someone who enjoys deep work.
"There's a lot of independent work, which I like. You don't have to work in a rush — you can focus and work calmly. Problem-solving, constant learning and seeing your own handprint in finished projects make the work rewarding."
